Alyxandra Melymuka, our Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), brings not only a wealth of general massage therapy knowledge but also additional training and experience in Pregnancy Massage Therapy, Massage Therapy for High Risk Pregnancies and Infant Massage.

For every Pregnancy Massage Therapy treatment with Leilani Integrative Healthcare, patients are positioned for usually a majority their treatment lying on their side (usually the Left side) with cushions and bolsters, providing optimal physical comfort, safety and even psychological benefits for the expectant Mother.

  • Foam wedge placed under the abdomen to support the uterus and prevent strains to uterine ligaments and the lower back
  • Pillows between the patients hip, knees and ankles to maintain a horizontal plane
  • Legs extended and positioned to ensure blood flow is not restricted
  • Additional cushions and supports available for chest and hips if desired
  • Large wedge back support when providing treatment in a semi-reclined position to prevent the risk of Supine Hypotensive Syndrome
  • Dimmed Lighting, creating a warm, relaxing and inviting atmosphere 
  • Scent-Free lotions and gels

Massage therapy is particularly suitable for expecting mothers that are considered "high risk", as it fosters relaxation, alleviates anxiety, aids in the physiological aspects of pregnancy, and can alleviate the discomfort and muscle tension that arise during bed rest. 


However- patients identified as having a "High Risk" pregnancy are encouraged to seek guidance from their prenatal healthcare provider regarding the suitability of massage therapy. It is advisable to discuss any precautions or limitations pertaining to the massage treatment and/or positioning for the massage with their healthcare provider before commencing treatment.


Our Registered Massage Therapist, Alyxandra, has completed additional training and education in treating high-risk pregnancies. Her advanced skills ensure tailored, safe, and effective care for expectant mothers facing unique challenges.


Patients presenting with any of the following symptoms/conditions at the time of their appointment are advised to postpone or cancel their appointment until the condition is resolved or they obtain clearance for massage therapy from their prenatal healthcare provider:

  • Fever
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Complications associated with gestational diabetes
  • Urinary tract infection (UTI) or kidney infection
  • Severe or unexplained abdominal and/or pelvic pain
  • Eclampsia/pre-eclampsia
  • Premature labor (before 37 weeks)
  • Active infections or contagious diseases
  • Current bleeding or spotting
